Golan Heights annexed by Israel
The Swiss Army has the second biggest contingent of Soldiers in Israel and is part of the Truce Mission on the Golan Heights. This series of photographs gives a superficial insight of two of the Observation Points on the Israeli side of the Golan Heights. On both sides of the fence, in Israel and in Syria, the UN has several Observation Points from Lebanon to the most southern point by the border triangle between Israel, Jordan and Syria, although the OP's on the Syrian side had been shut down in September 2014 when the conflict in Syria started escalating. By now, some of the OP's have been occupied by Rebel Groups.
The UN Observation Points are under permanent surveillance by the IDF (Israeli Defence Force). Taking photos towards Israel has therefore been strictly prohibited since it's a conflict zone and Military Ground.
