Informal Tent Settlements
Region Akkar and Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Lebanon, with it's roughly 4.5 million inhabitants, has recorded 1.5 million refugees from Syria. Those refugees live in so called "Informal Tent Settlements", garages or empty houses. They rent the spaces for a monthly fee that, depending on the landlord, can be almost free up to outrageously expensive. Many of the male refugees work as day laborers in construction, women and children instead in agriculture. Asked about their situation some man answered that they are tired of waiting and rather go to war to fight their enemies in Syria. This way, they either help free their country from the enemies or die fighting, which would give their days more sense.
