Unlike in Switzerland, in the Ukraine, graves will not be removed after 25 years. The consequence is, that cemeteries become the size of a small city with neverending roads and different sectors. Outside Mykolajw, in Southern Ukraine, the cemetery has reached it's maximum capacity and and is divided by a dirt-road from the local garbage dump. Therefore, no new graves are officially allowed. A new cemetery has been started further away from the city.
Being further out of the city, to many locals it is a hassle to get there, and it's very time consuming. This is why, new graves are being sold and dug blending in with the garbage dump. Due to the fact that they are not legally placed there, it is more expensive to buy a spot and one has to clean the soil from garbage on it's own.
